Ben Ruthe

Like many business owners, Ben understands the complexity of establishing and growing a service-based business. Having had experience with a leading liability and property insurer and a corporate brokerage, Ben then headed out to establish the fire and general broking division of Financial Independence in 2009, at exactly the same time as his first child, Sam, was born. A dramatic time in New Zealand and insurance history with the Christchurch Earthquakes and recession.

Starting a business from scratch with no clients really focuses attention on delivering quality. As those that know him will attest, Ben always goes the extra mile for clients, which is why the business model that he has established based on client referrals works so well.

Ben’s focus and ability to build a quality team led to the fire and general business being a finalist for the Insurance Advisernet New Zealand Insurance Broker of the Year a record 10 times with the team winning the Insurance Advisernet New Zealand Insurance Broker of the Year award on two occasions.

Ben leads the team to ensure that high quality, consistent service is provided to all clients and that the team is always striving for more.

His previous background as a national running champion, including an Auckland marathon win a 4-minute mile and representing NZ at the world champs shows the sort of effort he puts into life. Ben is now dealing with the reality that his son Sam has now surpassed him with a 3:58 mile at 15 years old becoming the youngest sub-4-minute miler in history.

•        Level 5 - New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services

•        Insurance Advisernet New Zealand Insurance Broker of the year 2014 & 2017
