Canterbury Earthquakes

Our hearts and thoughts go out to everyone affected by the Canterbury Earthquakes. It is a sad and tough time for New Zealanders and especially those battling away in Christchurch.
That been said, this natural disaster is a timely reminder to us all that no one in invincible and that New Zealanders need to start taking these risks more seriously.

Business Owners

Business owners have been far to complacent for too long now. After the first quake in September we saw stories of business owners realising that their insurance covers were not up to scratch and that the financial viability of their business was seriously under threat as a result. Given that such a high proportion of businesses affected are SME's (small to medium enterprises) and most of the owners heavily rely on the income produced from them, it becomes more important to make sure that the financial impacts are insured against.

Financial Independence audited a number of local businesses last year and found that approximately 1/3rd of them did not have the correct covers in place. Should the quake have struck here these businesses would have struggled financially without major capital input from the owners.

Our aim is to ensure that local businesses have the correct insurance cover to enable them to survive finacially should an event such as an earthquake strike here and to make sure that they are getting the best deal possible.
